Light at the End of the Tunnel!

For those of you who are still working on college applications, these last few weeks are key. We know it is difficult to continue working on applications when other people around you are finished and when honestly, you are just burnt out. Don't lose your fuel now, though! The applications you are working on now are just as important (if not more) as the ones you've already submitted.

So how do you stay motivated to push through the next few weeks until the end? Here are some ideas . . .

Get organized! If you haven't already done so, make sure you have a folder/notebook or binder that you keep all of your application information in. It is easy to get deadlines mixed up, so watch out! Make yourself a calendar and mark off key dates for final reviews and dates for deadlines.

- Get out and explore! Chances are, you've been holed up in the same place (your room, the library, etc.) writing essays and filling out applications. You probably have maximized your creativity in those spaces, so go out there and find somewhere new to do your work. Check out a new coffee shop, a book store, anywhere that may inspire new ideas.

- Take advantage of potential proofreaders! With the holidays around the corner, you are probably going to have more family around. One of the best ways to improve your essays is to have others read them. That doesn't mean you have to take someone's advice regarding an essay, but it is a very good idea to get others' suggestions and perspectives on your writing. From there, you can alter your essays however you'd like - just keep in mind that they still have to be your essays and your writing :)

- Relax! This is a stressful time, especially with the holidays nearing, so make sure you are giving yourself time to relax and enjoy. Take breaks from your applications when you feel like you're getting exhausted or bored. Go for a walk, drink some tea, get ice cream with a friend - really anything to get your mind off of your work for a bit. Trust us, it is better to take a short break every once in a while than it is to lock yourself in your room until your applications are finished.

Keep your head up and put your all into submitting the best application you possibly can!
